Does Solar Increase Home Value? The DFW Data Says Yes
Owned solar systems consistently add to resale value in the North Texas market.
Multiple studies — including work by the U.S. Department of Energy's Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory — show that owned solar systems add measurable resale value. In growing markets like DFW, the premium tends to be on the higher end.
Important distinction: owned systems add value; leased systems generally do not, and can complicate a sale if the lease has to be assumed or bought out by the buyer.
If resale value matters to you, financing or paying cash for an owned system is the right path.
