June Heat and Solar Output: What DFW Homeowners Should Expect

Long days help production, but extreme heat can trim output. Here is how to read your June numbers.

June brings the longest days of the year, which means more hours of sunlight and strong total solar production. However, the same heat that drives air conditioning demand also reduces the electrical efficiency of solar panels.

For most Tier-1 modules, output drops roughly 0.3% to 0.5% for every degree Celsius above standard test conditions. On a 105-degree day, that can mean a panel producing a few percent less than its nameplate rating at midday.

The good news: longer daylight hours and clear skies still produce strong daily totals. Watch your monitoring app for weekly trends rather than fixating on a single hot afternoon.
